Broken garage door spring? We'll replace it today
A loud bang from the garage followed by a door that won't lift almost always means a snapped spring. We replace torsion and extension springs and rebalance the door so it runs light again.
Signs you need garage door spring replacement
- You heard a loud bang from the garage
- The motor strains but the door barely lifts
- The door feels very heavy when lifted by hand
- There's a visible gap in the spring coil
- The door slams down instead of easing closed
What we do
- Matched torsion or extension springs fitted
- Both springs replaced together so they wear evenly
- Spring tension set to the door's weight
- Cables and drums checked while we're there
- Door balance tested by hand and on the motor
How a job works
- You call 02 9071 7206. Tell us what the door is doing and the brand on the motor if you know it.
- We book a time that suits. Any day of the week, between 7am and 8pm.
- We check the whole door. You get a plain-English explanation and a price before any work starts.
- We fix it and test it. Balance, motor settings and the safety reverse are all checked before we leave.

Questions about springs
Can I open my garage door with a broken spring?
Please don't. Without the spring the door's full weight sits on the motor and cables, and it can fall. Leave it closed, unplug the opener and call us.
Should both garage door springs be replaced?
On doors with two springs we recommend replacing both. They were fitted at the same time, so the second one is usually close to breaking too.
How long does spring replacement take?
Most spring replacements take about an hour, including rebalancing and testing the door.
